Mary Madeline Rhoda-Brush, age 91 of Chesterton, IN passed away on December 11, 2018. She was born on August 29, 1927 in Hobart, IN to Joseph and Irma Barello, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her children: Jackie (Barry) Goodwin of Godfrey, IL, Bruce Hentzell of Chesterton, IN and Chris (Suzi) Hentzell of Chesterton, IN; her step-children, Shirley (Andy) Valpatic of Brownsburg, IN and Ginger Prendergast of Schererville, IN; David (Marsha) Prendergast of Florida; Sandy (Bill) Jacobs of Highland, IN; Kevin (Lisa) Prendergast of Pennsylvania; her grandchildren: Douglas Hughes, Darcy Goodwin, Sean Matheny, Megan Matheny, Rhoda (Darren) Nyce, and Drew (Lindsey) Valpatic.

; Jorja (Shane) Rhoda of Indianapolis, IN; her 10 great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Hentzell Jr., her second husband, Gordon Rhoda, her third husband, Roy Brush, her step-daughter, Nina Rhoda, and by her step-son, Lenny Rhoda, Al Prendergast. Madeline was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church and regularly attended St. John’s United Church in Chesterton.

She was very active in the senior’s group, women’s club, and other groups within the church. She always put others first, was a care giver for everyone and was always there when you needed her. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 3 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN with Reverend Aaron Ban officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. A private graveside service will take place in the spring. Memorial donations may be given to the VNA Hospice Center, 2404 Valparaiso St., Valparaiso, IN 46383.
