Obituary for Mary Newport (Houston) Mrs. Mary (Houston) Newport, 83, of Enfield passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the Arthur (Bill) W. Newport, who was the love of her life and with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. Mary was born January 21, 1935 in Springfield, MA the daughter of the late James and Mary (Colquhoun) Houston.

She worked in the culinary industry and was employed at Enfield Public Schools years rising to be the manager of John F Kennedy Junior High School cafeteria, retiring after 25 years of service. She enjoyed the CT shore and spent countless weekends at their trailer home in Westbrook admiring the birds and especially enjoyed catching a view of a Bald Eagle. Mary will always be remembered as a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She leaves her sons, Ronald A. Newport and wife, Christine of Manchester, CT and Bruce A. Newport and wife, Kawailani of Kekaha, HI; her daughter, Brenda C. DeGray and husband, Glenn of East Haven, CT; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to gather at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd. , Enfield, CT on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M for calling hours.

A funeral service for Mary will be celebrated on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 10:30 A.M at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hazardville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Health of New England Hospice at Home, 101 Phoenix Ave, Enfield, CT 06082.
