Obituary of Mary Carter Mary E. Carter, age 98, of New Egypt, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 7, 2018. She was born in St. John’s Newfoundland, Canada on April 3, 1920 to the late Michael and Annie Evans. In December of 1948, Mary and Robert L. Carter, Sr. married and later had two children.

She was a devoted wife and mother, and enjoyed staying home to raise her children. Mary enjoyed gardening, reading and loved to crochet for family and friends. She was also an avid Phillies fan and a member of the Church of the Assumption.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed. Mary is predeceased by her parents, Michael and Annie Evans (nee Flynn), three brothers, two sisters and her daughter-in-law Diane Carter. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Robert Carter, Sr. of New Egypt NJ; her son Robert Carter, Jr. of Ewing NJ; her daughter Cheryl Hennigan and her husband Edward of Richboro PA; two brothers, Michael Evans of Annandale VA and Frank Evans of St. John’s Newfoundland, Canada; a sister Joan Power of St. John’s Newfoundland, Canada; her beloved three grandchildren, Christopher Hennigan of Newport Beach CA, Brett Carter and his wife Christine Shoemaker of Fredrick MD and Erin Littlefield and her husband Ryan of Hampstead MD; her one year old great-granddaughter Ava Carter; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 10AM to 11:30AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, located at 52 Main Street, New Egypt NJ 08533. A funeral service will begin at 11:30AM with inurnment to follow at the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary’s memory to the Diane C. Carter Endowed Scholarship Fund. Please make checks payable to Rider University, 2083 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648 and designate the Diane C.
