MaryLou Sorenson, age 86, of Crookston passed away peacefully on October 26, 2018 at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston. A funeral will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Crookston. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston, followed by one hour prior to the service at the church the day of the service.

Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston. MaryLou Feldman was born to Raymond and Edna Elizabeth (Licht) Feldman on September 20, 1932 in Grand Forks, ND. She attended schools in Grand Forks, Brainerd and eventually attended and graduated from Crookston Central High in 1950.

After high school, MaryLou met Melvin C. Olson in Crookston and the couple wed in Crookston on Dec. 8, 1951. The couple moved to East Grand Forks and then to Grand Forks, ND and lived there for a couple years after their marriage and then settled in Crookston.

MaryLou worked in Crookston at Ottertail Power Co., Bridgeman’s and Country Kitchen. and she also helped with the RSVP program for many years. She was a longtime member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Crookston and served as the financial officer for the church.

MaryLou is a current member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. MaryLou enjoyed bowling and card parties with Melvin. She also enjoyed traveling with the Homemakers group, and other small groups to a variety of places.

She loved spending time with her grand-daughters playing cards and taking them for ice cream. MaryLou is survived by her children, Craig (Mary Anne) Olson of Lexington, KY; Jolene Lundin of Bemidji, MN; grand-children, Sara (Meg) Blackthorne of Portland, OR, Faith Lundin (Amaris Hinton), Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren, Rory Reynolds and Tasha. MaryLou is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melvin Olson; son, Dylan “Jeff” Onefeather, sisters, Gladys (Gene) Joarnt, Shirley (George) Steinbrink; niece, Kaye Joarnt; brother-in-law, Lewis Olson and sister-in-law, Marie Kurtz.
