Matthew J. O’Donnell, Sr., 82, of Mechanicsburg, died Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Messiah Lifeways. He was the husband of the late Anna Mae O’Donnell. Born in Newark, NJ on April 25, 1937, he was the son of the late Matthew O’Donnell and Sally Biety.

Matt was a graduate of Windham College and United States Army Veteran. He was also a Honda dealership owner, employed by the PA Department of Agriculture and worked in a variety of sales positions in the Central Pennsylvania area. Matt greatly enjoyed the outdoors, he specifically enjoyed biking, hiking, walking and paddling.

He loved his family and delighted in spending time with both family and friends sharing memories and making new ones. He especially enjoyed events where he had the opportunity to utilize his dancing skills. He was an avid volunteer in his community and his places of worship.

Matt was a devoted member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Grantham Church and previously Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Surviving are his children Meghan Winslow, wife of Jeffrey of Annville, Jennifer Horning, wife of Steven of York, and Matthew O’Donnell, husband of Shari of Colorado; and twelve grandchildren. He is also survived by his step daughter Linda Seroskie, wife of John of Mechanicsburg, and step son Chaplain Tom Kershner, husband of Lynne of Ohio and eight step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.

In addition to his late wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father Walter Biety, and a brother Joseph Taylor. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Messiah Lifeways Chapel, 100 Mt. Allen Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
