Obituary for Maxine Steves (Collins) Maxine Steves passed away peacefully in her home on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born April 12, 1954 in Rutland, Vermont to Roberta Steve Collins. She attended Warrensburg Central School.

In 1971 Maxine married the love of her life, Thomas Steves. They moved to Corinth, NY where Maxine worked for many years as a butcher at the IGA until they closed. In 1998, they moved to Tupper Lake where Maxine worked at Mercy Health Care until retiring in 2010.

She enjoyed spending time with her family traveling, sewing and embroidery. In her youth, she spent many summers at Portland Head Lighthouse in Maine. She especially enjoyed returning there as often as possible.

Maxine is predeceased by her husband of 44 years, her parents, her sisters; Elise Collins, Susan Dunn and brothers; Steve and Forest Collins. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy and husband Roy Phelps of Tupper Lake, he son Joshua and wife Heidi Steves of Queensbury, her grandchildren; Felicia Branch of Tupper Lake, Thomas Smith of Corinth, Zachary Smith of Tupper Lake, Timothy Allen of Tupper Lake, Mackenzie Steves of Queensbury and Cheyenne Steves if Queensbury. Maxine is also survived by her seven great-grandchildren; Madison, Chloe, Sydney Storms and Liam Smith of Tupper Lake, Beau Smith and Estelle Allen of Tupper Lake and Skylar Smith of Corinth.

She is also survived by her brother Roy Collins and wife Tess of Vine Grove, Kentucky and her sisters Earlene and husband Ross Sutphin of Warrensburg, Shirley and husband Gary Ross of Warrensburg, Bonnie and husband Alexander Rata of Jay, Sandra and husband Philip of Warrensburg and sister Ethel and husband Mark of Redway, California, as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins. A service is scheduled for 1pm, Saturday, March 3, at the Baptist chapel in Tupper Lake followed by a celebration of Life ceremony at the Ivy Terrace Community Hall. A Mass will be celebrated in her name at her church at St. Alphonsus at 11 a.m. on March 4th.

Donations can be made to High Peaks Hospice, whose staff provided wonderful care for her, the family especially wishes to thank, Souix, Jan, Heather and Laura for their love and support during these many months.
