Maylon M. “Ike” Kirkwood, 93, DuBois, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018. Born April 8, 1925, he was the son of the late Thomas and Delores “Peg” (Maier) Kirkwood. On December 25, 1945, he married Margaret “Jean” (Myers) Kirkwood in DuBois.

She preceded him in death on April 2, 2014. Ike graduated from the DuBois Area High School in 1942. That same year, Ike was the state wrestling champion and was later inducted into the state wrestling hall of fame.

He was the co-owner of T. G.… Read More » Kirkwood and Sons Plumbing and Heating for 50 years. Ike was a longtime member of Dad’s Horseshoe Club, a member of Christ Lutheran Church, a manager in little league, and enjoyed bowling. He was a faithful blood donor.

Ike was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Ike is survived by his son, Terry “Tieg” Kirkwood, DuBois, his son-in-law, Daniel Dangel, his daughter-in-law, Sharon Kirkwood, six grandchildren, eight grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was the last member of his immediate family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, his daughter, Donna Dangel, his son, Randy L. Kirkwood, and his brothers, Thomas and Kenny Kirkwood. Friends and family will be received Monday, October 8, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc. Immediately following Monday’s visitation, a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with LaMarr Adamson CLP officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard.

Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 109 N. Brady St., DuBois, PA 15801.
