OBITUARY Melba Joyce Wohlford November 22, 1925 – July 17, 2018 Melba Joyce (McMurray) Wohlford, 92, was born November 22, 1925, in Merkel, Texas, to Alma and Oscar McMurray. She peacefully passed on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, with her son and daughter by her side. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years, Derrell Lee Wohlford; her parents, Alma and Oscar; and her brothers, Elmer Lee, Jacob Oscar Jr., and Harold Hays.

She is survived by her loving family including her daughter, Cynthia Wohlford Sine (Tim), son Randall Collin Wohlford (Claudia); four grandchildren, Matthew Sine (Christen), Sarah Carrera (Duwayne), Katelyn Battaglia (Michael), and Jacob Wohlford; five great-grandchildren; five nephews and two nieces. Known affectionately as “Meme,” she was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. She was known for her grace, unselfishness, kindness, compassion, and generosity.

Melba grew up during the Great Depression and World War II. During these hard times, she attended six high schools before going to business school in Abilene, Texas. Melba worked in the banking industry and ended her career in the mid-1980s at Neiman Marcus, where she developed her flair for fashion.

She cherished her friends and family and always supported them whenever they needed her care. Her home was always cozy, spotless, and smelled of home cooking; she was immaculately dressed; and her grandchildren were never without a new pair of shoes. Melba was a member of the “Fab Five” and the Trinity Class at First United Methodist Church in Coppell, Texas.

She enjoyed the past four years at MacArthur Hills in Irving, Texas. Visitation will be at 10:00AM and Funeral Service at 11:00AM on Friday, July 20, 2018 at Rolling Oaks Funeral Home, 400 Freeport Parkway, Coppell, Texas. Burial will be in Acton Cemetery in Acton, Texas at 2:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, Alzheimer’s Association, or a charity of choice.
