Melinda Jane “Janie” Vanosdol, 50, of North Vernon passed away at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at her residence. Born March 12, 1968, in Columbus, Janie was the daughter of the late James and Annette (Beeman) Jenkins. Janie was a 1986 graduate of Jennings County High School and worked for Stone Belt in Columbus for two months, she had previously worked as a manager for Ryan’s Steakhouse in Seymour for eight years, Steak & Shake in Seymour and Golden Corral in Bloomington.

Janie enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Janie is survived by her son, Sheldon Vanosdol of North Vernon; daughter, Whitney Hatcher of Columbus, companion, Thomas Head of North Vernon; brother, Rusty (Carol) Jenkins of North Vernon; sisters, Lora (Roger) Vanosdol, Lynnetta Jenkins and Angela Jenkins all of North Vernon; grandchildren, Zarek Bautista of North Vernon, Elizabeth Quillen and Isabelle Vanosdol both of Dupont and Jaycee Hatcher of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service with the Rev. Sherman Beville officiating. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, December 14, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Memorials may be made through the funeral home for expenses.
