Obituary for Melody Sandone ROCKLAND – With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our matriarch, Melody R. Sandone, on Wednesday February 13, 2019. Born August 16, 1954, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT, she was the daughter of Donald and Constance Bullock Smith. Melody grew up and attended schools in East Windsor, CT.

She has lived in Rockland for the past eight years. Melody, or Nana as she was known, spent many years in the food distribution industry. She was most recently employed at Kelsey’s Appliance in Rockport.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren whom she adored. She had a wonderful circle of friends and looked forward to ‘girl’s night’. She had a love of music, cooking and walking the beach searching for sea glass.

Her flare for fashion was one of a kind and she knew how to rock the red lipstick. Her witty sense of humor will be missed by all. Predeceased by her mother, Melody is survived by her father Donald of Camden; her daughters, Tia Batchelder of West Chesterfield, MA, Jade Fleury and her husband Eric of Rockland; her grandchildren, Nicholas, Noah and Jacob Batchelder and their father Dylan Batchelder, Chloe and Madilyn Fleury; her companion Thomas Jennison of Daytona Beach, FL; her sister Hope Smith and her husband John Salas of Windsor Locks, CT; her brother Matt Smith of Enfield, CT; niece Tabitha Mirisola and her husband Jeff; a nephew Joshua Smith and partner Jessica Malinowski; two great-nieces, Lilly and Vianna; a great-nephew Alex; as well as several other nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; her furry companion, her dog, ‘Buddy’, and too many close friends to count.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. A celebration of her life in Massachusetts will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either, PAWS Animal Adoption Center, 123 John Street, Camden, Maine 04843, or Pope Memorial Humane Society, P.O. Box 1294, Rockland, Maine 04841.
