Michael Bernard Carpenter, Sr. was born Tuesday, June 5, 1962 to Norma Jean Carpenter and J.C. Elmore in Kosciusko, Mississippi. He departed this life on Friday, September 14, 2018 at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Michael attended grade school at Kosciusko Upper Elementary.

He relocated to Saginaw, Michigan; where he attended Ruben Daniels Community Schools. He dedicated his life to receive the best education. Later in life he attended Anthis Career Center where he received his GED in 2002.

He furthered his education by obtaining an Associates Degree and Bachelor’s Degree. Michael was united in holy matrimony to Elizabeth Ann Hendrix in 1987, at the time of his death they were married for 31 years. He accepted Christ in his life and was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church by the late Rev.

C.E. Walker, Sr He loved the Lord and enjoyed reading his bible. Michael loved his family and was known as the family counselor.

He didn’t mind sharing his philosophy with anyone. He often said, “Don’t cheat yourself, treat yourself”. He also enjoyed restoring classic cars, playing chess, shooting basketball, listening to music, fishing and traveling.

He was proud of his family and all of his accomplishments that he received in life. He was loved dearly and will truly be missed. His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Elizabeth Carpenter; sons, Travis Hendrix and Michael Carpenter, Jr.; daughter, Miranda Carpenter; grandchildren, Michaela, Jeremiah, Josiah, Mi’Lisa, Braylen, Li’Ana and Nehemiah; brothers, Kelvin Carpenter, Anthony Snow, Benjamin Elmore and Jason Elmore; sisters, Cheryl Carpenter, Mary Snow and Patricia Lewis; brother-in-law, Robert Hendrix; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Taryn Carpenter; grandson, Tavarus Carpenter; parents, J.C. Elmore and Norma Snow; grandparents, James Hall, Rosie Lee and Edward Brantley; brother, Bruce Elmore; sister, Silvia Burt and aunt, Rose Ann Brantley.
