OBITUARY Michael Brian Lindsey August 23, 1944 – September 9, 2018 The Lord and Great Architect of the Universe granted Michael Lindsey one of the greatest and rarest gifts He chose to bestow on Earth – The Power of Master Negotiation. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, to Alice and S. P. Lindsey on August 23, 1944, Michael discovered and utilized his ability from his teenage years and throughout his life. Only those closest to him knew or discovered this trait which was not merely salesmanship but that of a World Class Master Negotiator.
He always believed his greatest “sale” was in 1967 – convincing his wife, Linda Lindsey, to marry him becoming his lifetime best friend, lover, partner and confidant. As their birthdates were exactly one day and one year apart (LL on August 24, 1945), their parents had a combined birthday party for them and their friends when he was 5 and she was 4, thus they literally dated longer than many people stay married. They traveled the world and for many years each summer, toured and criss-crossed the U.S.A. and Canada on a Harley Davidson Ultra Limited annually taking 35-48 day trips.
Michael was an award winning trumpet player in his teens having the ability to play most any song by ear and additionally, earned virtually every award/honor of The Order of DeMolay – sponsored by The Masonic Fraternity. He later became Past Master of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masonic Order as well as being a member of various appendent organizations, including Scottish Rite, Commandery, Shrine as a 32 degree Mason, The Royal Order of Scotland and Quatuor Coronati – The Premier Lodge of Research in London, England. The Lord directed Michael into His service where he was for 22 years, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Presbyterian Foundation Synod of the Sun for the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana, serving many years as Chairman of the Finance Committee and member of the Executive Committee.
After graduating from The University of Texas (Austin, of course), Michael joined his mentor the noted financier/banker/developer/investor, James Doss and served as his personal assistant for 11 years before founding his own firm owning shopping centers, commercial buildings, residential/apartment properties, oil interests and branching into various investments throughout the years. Written by Michael who sincerely appreciates your friendship over the years and profoundly thanks all the bankers throughout his life for believing in him and saying Yes. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 12th, from 6 PM to 9 PM at Sparkman/Hillcrest, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas.
A private interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation, 4144 N. Central Expressway, Suite 750, Dallas, Texas, 75205-0308, or the charity of your choice.
