Michael E Maher January 31, 1933 – January 17, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Michael E. Maher went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 17, 2019. He passed peacefully into the loving arms of his Savior, comfortable in the peace of his home. Michael was born in San Francisco, California on January 31st, 1933.

He was a proud graduate of the University of Washington and he worked as a Certified Public Accountant until his retirement. He served in the Naval Reserve during the Korean Conflict, spending his military time at the historic Naval Air Station Seattle at Sand Point. From early on, Michael had a love of golf and a love of building model airplanes.

During his latter years, he could often be found building a new model airplane or watching golf. Michael’s other passion was his love of the Church and his Catholic faith. He was a liturgical and Eucharistic Minister during his years as a member of St. Mary Magdalen parish.

He met and married his wife, Mary Ann Whisenant-Maher while they were both Eucharistic ministers. Together they served the Lord and the many ministries of the Church, especially ministering to the home-bound through meal deliveries and taking communion to the home-bound. Although a very private person, Michael adored his wife, Mary Ann, never failing to write letters with poems and leaving cards for her.

Michael is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary Ann Whisenant Maher. He also leaves behind his daughter, Michele Webster of Brighton, Massachusetts, stepsons Greg Whisenant of Miami, Florida, Ken Whisenant of Camano Island, Washington, stepdaughters Laurie Bisset of Camano Island, Washington and Theresa Ikstrums of Seaside, California, step-granddaughters Marisa Tremblay of Hawthorne, California and Anna Solomon of Mount Vernon, Washington. He also leaves behind his beloved sisters Mercia Lee Thorne and Susan Young.

The family would like to recognize Hospice of the Northwest and their compassionate, supportive team of skilled professionals who made sure that Michael’s needs were met and his family supported. From medical care, spiritual care, personal care to music therapy and additional res, the family was able to continue Michael’s life at home, surrounded by family and friends until he was ready to pass peacefully. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, January 26th at 1:00 pm at St. Mary Magdalen in Everett, Washington.

This will be followed by internment with military honors at Cypress Lawn Cemetery.
