Obituary for Michael H. Chaszczewski COHOES – Michael H. Chaszczewski, 89, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, February 1, 2019 in Viera, Florida. Michael was born in Cohoes on April 13, 1929 and was the son of the late Michael F. and Frances (Rewer) Chaszczewski. He was educated at St. Michael’s School in Cohoes and graduated from Cohoes High School.
Michael served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation for 40 years and retired in 1990 as an engineering draftsman. Michael was a life-long communicant of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Cohoes where, in his youth, he served as an altar boy.
Husband of the late Mary (Ciepcielinski); father of Michael E. (Barbara) Chaszczewski and Susanne M. (James) Breen; grandfather of Michael G. and Rosemary A. Chaszczewski, Dana M. Dahlin (Brian) Glasser and Matthew C. (Katie) Dahlin; great-grandfather of Vanessa, Skylar, Zachary and Nathan Glasser and Harleigh Dahlin; brother of the late Lucy Stackrow, Valerie Chaszczewski, Alice Skawinski and Edward Chaszczewski. He was the faithful and forever friend of Ann Krupski and is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 9 am in St. Michael’s Church, 20 Page Avenue, Cohoes.
He will be interred, next to his wife, in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Watervliet. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit with Michael’s family on Wednesday from 4 until 7 pm at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway in Watervliet.
Donations may be made to St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 20 Page Avenue, Cohoes, NY 12047 in Michael’s memory.
