Obituary of Michael Ambrosio MICHAEL AMBROSIO Latham-Michael Ambrosio 64 of Latham, beloved husband of Victoria “Vicki” Ambrosio died unexpectedly on Monday January 21, 2019 at Albany Medical Center after being stricken at his home. Born in Queens, NY on June 6, 1954, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Carmela (Ceravolo) Ambrosio. He was a graduate of SUNY Cortland with his Bachelor’s degree and SUNY Albany with his Master’s degree both in education.

Mike married the love of his life Vicki (DelRosso) Ambrosio on September 2, 1978 and the two have shared a beautiful marriage of 40 years. He was a Physical Education Teacher at South Colonie Central High School from 1985 until his retirement in 2017. Mike formerly coached wrestling, track and lacrosse at South Colonie High School and took over the varsity football program in 1997 and remained head coach until 2011.

During his tenure as head coach of the football team he guided the team to three class AA super bowl appearances. He was a total family man and the greatest joy in his life was the time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren to which he was totally committed too. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his loving children Bethany (Ken) Liberty and Mark (Brittany Pfaff) Ambrosio, he was the cherished Pop-Pop to Kayleigh Liberty, Sawyer Liberty and Jacob “Jake” Liberty, dear brother of Diane (Ken) Jones, Vincent (Janet) Ambrosio and Joseph (Jane) Ambrosio. Mike was the son-in-law of Kay DelRosso, brother-in-law of Mario (Jeannie) DelRosso, Rita (Rick) Battaglia, Tina (Mark) DelRosso and Steven (Missy) DelRosso. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday January 26, 2019 at 10:00 am in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke, pastor officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday January 25, 2019 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Our Lady of the Assumption Church.

Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
