Krugman, 98, of Elyria passed away May 20, 2019 at home. “Millie” had always hoped when the time came she could die at her “heavenly home on earth”, and through the love of her caregivers, her wishes were fulfilled. Mildred was born October 6, 1920 in Pittsburgh, Pa and lived most of her life in Elyria when not traveling to Florida as a “Snowbird”.

Mildred was best known for co-founding and operating Nel’s Oh Boy (Midway Drive-In) on Lake Avenue in Elyria, with her husband, Nelson from 1952-1966. Midway Drive-In has long been a staple for Elyria area residents and has won many local awards. She was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Elyria and enjoyed visits, cards, and photos she received from Grace Lutheran’s Music Ministry Kids and their director Trudi Jennings.

Even at age 96, Mildred remained active in her garden, planting flowers and took great pride in her grape arbor. Survivors include good friends and caregivers Tim and Kim Shular or Elyria; special friend and handyman Mark Kaminski of Wellington; Kim Holmen-Lang of Elyria; Kay Young of Columbia Station; and several nieces and nephews including Sandra Woolfenden (nee Ehlke) of Fairfax, Va. ; Phyllis Gebhardt of Elyria; William Gebhardt of Houston, Tx.

; Judy (Hardy) Dickson of Avon Lake, Oh. ; Ricki (Hardy) Gowan of Gainesville, Ga. ; and Wanda, Shannon and Kelly all of Elyria.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Nelson in 1991; parents Michael and Esther (nee Karkellie) Dyer; brother William Dyer; and sister Donna (nee Dyer) Hardy. A funeral service will be Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 10:00 am in Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave. , Elyria.

The Reverend Robert F. Weldon, Sr., pastor of Grace Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 9685 East River Road, Elyria, 44035 or Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, 44035.
