Obituary for Mildred L. Green Hicks Mildred L. Green Hicks, age 93, a resident of Cleveland, lost a long struggle with cancer on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the family residence. Mrs. Hicks was the daughter of the late Gussie Headrick Green and John Henry Green. Her valiant fight began 35 years ago.

Her Larynx was removed and vocal cords rebuilt in a history making procedure that allowed her to speak in a harsh whisper rather than use a microphone. Mildred worked at a Consauga sewing factory, Magic Chef and Cleveland Community Services in the Meals on Wheels program. Her favorite hobby was cooking for family dinners.

It was not unusual for her family to enjoy 3 entrees and 7 or 8 desserts. She wanted her family to leave satisfied and have something unique to them. She said goodbye to her husband of 73 years, Hershel Hicks, her children, Larry Hicks and his wife Shannon, Sandra Hughes and her husband Bill, Jonny Hicks and his wife Cindy, her six grandchildren, Cindy and her husband Robert, Jon, Brian and his wife Beth, Todd and his wife Tina, Scott and Richard, her 9 great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren, her sister, Imogene Stone, her brother, Kenneth Green and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 7:00 P. M. at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel with Reverend Kenneth Green officiating. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted on Saturday at 1:00 P. M. at the Boanerges Baptist Church with Scott Hughes, Richard Hughes, Jon Hicks, Todd Hicks, Bill Hughes and Brian Hicks serving as casket bearers. The family would like to thank all the Medical staff for their care of Mrs. Hicks.
