Mildred Lucinda Wooten Seagroves, age 86, of Vass, NC, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019 at FirstHealth Hospice House. She was born in Hoke County on July 2, 1932 to the late Archie D. Wooten and Mazie Viola Simpson. There is a wonderful reunion happening now as she has joined her husband James W. “Jim” Seagroves and daughter Charlotte Seagroves Winkler on the journey to heaven.

Mildred was very involved in Mt. Pleasant Christian Church and community. Her love for her church family was abundant.

She ran the church kitchen for many years and was famous far and wide for her chicken and dumplings. She was an avid quilter and made hundreds of quilts which raised thousands of dollars over the years at the annual Harvest Sales. Mrs. Seagroves was a caregiver to her mother in her final years.

Her wonderful combination of humility, compassion and good old-fashioned, light-hearted fun will be missed. She was also preceded in death by brothers Archie Wooten, Gray Wooten, Leon Wooten, and sister Ruth McMahon. She is survived by her son James W. “Buck” Seagroves, Jr. and wife Diane of Vass; daughters Judy Bosworth and husband, Myron of West End, Sue Collins and husband, William of Vass, Barbara Joyce and husband, Robert of Lewisville and Beverly Seagroves Marler of Greensboro; sister Mary McCleney of Sanford; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 4:00 PM at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church with Pastor Ray Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation with the family will follow the services. The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Moore Regional Hospital and the staff at FirstHealth Hospice House for the wonderful care they provided in her final days. Memorial donations may be made to FirstHealth Hospice House 251 Campground Road, West End, NC 27376 and/or Mt.
