Mildred Groom passed away on, September 28, 2018, four days after her 97th birthday, after a brief illness. She was born in Forest City, Pennsylvania on September 24, 1921 and moved to Barberton in her late teens. She worked at Ohio Match Company and Seiberling Tire Company.

Later she managed food operations at the Magic City Drive-In, Gaylord’s, and Sacred Heart grade school. The focus of her life was her family, cooking, and baking. She was happiest when preparing meals and baking for her family.

Her baking talents were unmatched. Her creations were always in demand from her extended family of sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews. At wedding receptions guests would knock over the wedding cake to get to her pastries.

Her family was the priority in her life. There was nothing she wouldn’t do to make her family’s lives more pleasant. Her fun times were occasional casino visits that never seemed to pay off.

Mildred was a life-long member of Prince of Peace Church (formerly Sacred Heart), KSKJ, and St. Mary Lodge. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Leo, and her parents Ignatz and Lucia Pantzar. She is survived by her children Don (Carla) of North Canton, Irene of Barberton, Mike of Doylestown, Patricia (Paul) Petrie of Marietta, Georgia, Ken (Beth) of Woodstock, Georgia, and Kathleen (Steve) of Naperville, Illinois, 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mildred is also survived by her Brother Ed (Gladys) Pantzar of Vandling, Pennsylvania and Evelyn Pantzar, also of Forest City, Pennsylvania, and Sister-in-Law Marie Pancar of Barberton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M. on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave. , Norton.

Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours on Sunday from 2-5 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton.
