Obituary for Milton (Whitey) Greiss Milton (Whitey) Greiss, 90, passed away on June 15 in Boynton Beach, FL. An All-American at DeWitt Clinton & a stalwart on the NYU basketball squad, he starred on NYC basketball courts from 1943-49, playing with some of the greatest players in the game including Dolph Schayes. His beloved wife of 68 years, Joan, gave him his nickname when he was 16 due to his blonde hair.
