Funeral services for Lorene “Mamaw” Ivey, 83, of Edgewood, TX, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Friday, September 14, 2018, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Lorene passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018.

Minnie Lorene Henderson was born February 28, 1935, in Frankston, TX, to the late Homer Horace Henderson and Minnie Mabel Holloway. She was raised in Frankston, TX where she attended school. Lorene married Cecil Ray Ivey on May 1, 1951, in Dallas, TX, where they lived for several years before purchasing a farm in Gilmer.

Lorene was a homemaker all of her life and a special caretaker for many friends and family. She moved to Edgewood in 2000 to make her home. Lorene loved her family and taking care of her grandchildren.

She was a very independent woman, enjoyed working in the yard and being outdoors. Lorene was of the Baptist faith. She was still a very active lady before suddenly becoming ill six weeks ago.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Ray Ivey; parents, Homer and Minnie Henderson; three brothers, Homer, Terry Don and Jerry Lee; two sisters, Birdie Lee and Adeline Johnson; a very special granddaughter, Lauren Ivey Holt. Minnie is survived by her son, Kenneth Ivey and wife, Karen, of Kaufman; daughters, Linda Whitfield and husband, Randy, Sr. of Edgewood and Mary McKinney and husband, Adrian of Waxahachie; brother, Robert Henderson of Frankston; sisters, Annie Doris Reid of Bullard, Linda Kay Carlton of Palestine and Abilene Johnson of Lytle; grandchildren, Randy Whitfield, Jr. and wife, Amy, of Edgewood, Danny Whitfield and wife, Shelli, of Edgewood, Kevin Ivey and Amber Hale of Forney, Dakota Holt of Edgewood and Gary Tye and wife, Tosha, of Waxahachie; great grandchildren, Kimber Whitfield and Robert Grizell, Kara Whitfield and Derek Duke, Kristina Whitfield, Caleb Martin, Marcus Burrage, Kayla Whitfield, Reagan White, Dillon Wheeler and Danelle Null; great-great grandchildren, Lauren Grizell, Kaydence, Raylee and Hayden Burrage, Alexiz, Emma and Kennedy Duke and Karsynn, Maddox and Felicity Null and Jayden Hale. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood.
