Tolson, Miriam Mignonette (63) of Norwalk California passed away on Tuesday, August 7th, 2018. Miriam was born on Wednesday June 29, 1955 in Birmingham Alabama to Lee James Alexander and Miriam (West) Alexander. She was affectionately knowm as “Little Miriam” a loving term to distinguish her from her Mother.

When Miriam’s family relocated to Los Angeles in 1957, she brought her Southern charm along for the journey. Miriam graduated from Los Angeles High School in 1973 and attended West LA College Miriam married in 1977 and bore three incredible children, Jeffery Jr., Mignonette and Christopher. Miriam was a gifted professional, working in administration at Inglewood and Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School Districts, as well as at Cerritos Community College.

She recently retired after 22 years of dedicated employment and service. Miriam Tolson was a member of the “American Association for Women in Community Colleges” and also servied as part of the “Women Hold Up Half the Sky Conference Committee” (representing Cerritos College). She provided 18 years of extraordinary service and was a positive force for change.

Miriam was an active committee member, always generating new ideas and working hard to make the conference a huge success. For over 12 years Miriam also worked as a licensed realtor, representing both Century21 and Remax. Miriam passionately pursued a variety of activities including gardening, traveling, dancing and swimming, but her primary passion was communing with family members and supporting loved ones.

She loved snapping photos and permanently capturing life’s precious moments. Miriam was the family’s consummate historian, remembering every birthday, special occasion and recalling every family member’s place in the family tree. Miriam lived every day richly and her light shone brightly: her enthusiasm was contagious.

The cornerstone of Miriam’s life was her faith in Jesus Christ. She was born again in 1977 and has led countless friends and loved ones to the greatest relationship ever known. Miriam became a member of Crenshaw Christian Center in 1976 where she served in the Intercessory Prayer auxiliary.

One of her life’s most precious assignments was to pray fervently for her family and friends. Miriam was predeceased in death by her mother, Miriam Richardson. She is survived by her children, Jeffery, Mignonette (Karim) and Christopher (Shameka), her grandchildren, Domonique, Makayla.

Miah, Tia, Kingston and Christian. Her step-father Jim, her father, Lee (Joan) and her brothers, Mosheh (Stacey), Mark, David (Melody) and Greg (Angelica), uncles, Dr. John (Sue) West and Ben Alexander, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and godchildren. Miriam demonstrated the supernatural love of God and she shared it freely with all who were blessed to know her.

Her bright smile and warm hugs brought immeasurable comfort and joy to countless individuals. She was selfless, compassionate, and her soul danced gleefully to the rhythm of life. She showed the world that “complaining” is never necessary, even during life’s inevitable challenges.

She was a radiant beacon of light and her legacy shines inside us all, forever and ever. Blessed be the living memory of Miriam Mignonette Tolson. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 16th 2018 at 11:00 AM at Crenshaw Christian Center’s Main Auditorium.
