Gloria Diane Harris, age 73, joined her heavenly home on Sunday, May 26. She was born on February 10, 1946 to the late Jimmy and Ollie Mae Dees. Diane was a devoted wife, loving mother, and a proud MawMaw that loved her family and friends dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Dees, brother in law Earl Smith, and her great niece Raelyn Harris. She will be loved and greatly missed by her beloved husband, Jerry Harris. Her children: Eileen Harris, Lonnie (Gina) Harris, Kayla (Greg) Beyers, and Donna (Mylan) Mills.
Grandchildren: Sherrell (Brad), Christen (Dylan), Jessica, Hannah (Gary), Josh, Lauren (Ken), Hayley (John Russell), Kacy, Cory, Chase, Jenna, Noah, and Cayson. Great grandchildren: Maelee, Gage, Ellison, Clark, Brayden, Brantley, Brittany, Olivia, Lynn, Emma, Brody, Laney, Reagan, Mason, and Peyton. Her sisters, and brother: Dorothy, Joyce (Gerald), Debbie (James), and Troy (Susan) Diane’s life was a living example of Colossians 3:23 — “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men”.
She loved to help people; it suited her servants heart. If you ever needed anything, she was there in an instant. When not directly helping others, she was behind the scenes making it all happen.
Her precious hands were rarely still. They were always making, creating, crafting, directing, planting, or engineering something that would make the job easier, whatever that job may be. She always had a plan and if there was ever a problem she always had the solution.
She would make the most beautiful something out of absolute nothing and finding a way to take the most unusual item and make it the most sensible tool you never knew you needed. A few important things she taught us along the way: — If we are going to do something, you better go the extra mile and make sure you do it right the first time. —Always send a thank you card.
—There’s no way to have a bad day with southern gospel music blaring on the tv. —Never, ever tap her spoons on the side of her bowls. —Always, always pay your tithes, no matter if you think you are going to starve or not.
She was the most unselfish, strongest, blue eyed beauty on this earth and she will be missed beyond belief, but we have a promise in 1 Thes. 4:17 that says “Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord”.
So we will not say goodbye, we will say “see you soon”. Visitation for Diane will be Thursday May 30,2019 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Three Rivers Assembly of God Church. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm from the sanctuary with Rev.
Gene Emswiler and Rev. Mylan Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Serene Gardens cemetery.
