Obituary Myra Jane Herbst Whitfield Ward April 8, 1942 – May 26, 2019 Myra Ward went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 26, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. Myra was born on April 8, 1942 in Junction, Texas, to C. W. (Bill) and Thekla Land Herbst. Myra was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Harry Whitfield Jr., second husband John C. Ward, brothers Clifford Herbst and Victor Herbst.

Myra graduated from London High School, San Antonio College and Trinity University (class of 1965). After graduating from college, she moved to Houston, Texas, and worked for Exxon for ten years. She lived in London, England; Evergreen, Colorado; and Sequim, Washington before moving back to Texas in 2015 to be closer to family.

Myra loved her family and was caretaker for her two husbands before their deaths and her sister. She fought cancer with all she had, beating the odds several times. Myra loved cats and no stray cat that ventured to the backyard was left unfed.

Myra is survived by her sister, Louise Curington; sister-in-law, Adeline Herbst of San Antonio, Texas; sister-in-law, Norene Herbst of Junction, Texas; stepdaughter, Michelle (Albert) Schueller; stepgrandchildren, Alicia and John of Federal Way, Washington; stepson, John C. Ward III of Pine, Colorado; nephews, Clifford Herbst Jr. (Karron) of Subiaco, Arkansas; Charles Herbst (Randi) of Junction, Texas; nieces, Rhonda Hrna (Edward) of Floresville, Texas; Darla Douthit (Duke) of Junction, Texas; numerous great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 3, 2019, at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with funeral services at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local animal shelter or the National Cancer Society at www.
