She is survived by her mother, Harriet Turner, sisters, Baheejah and Nefeesah, her father, Mark Sims, and brother, Mark, Jr. Nadja was the eldest of her siblings. Nadja grew up in New York, until she moved to South Carolina, where she graduated from Camden High School.

She attended Winthrop University on a scholarship, but decided to pursue a career in the United States Air Force. She was stationed in Colorado, where she worked on satellites. At her honorable discharge she obtained the rank of Sergeant.

After active duty in the Air Force, Nadja continued duty in the service of her country, in the Air National Guard. She leveraged her technology training in roles with various Fortune 500 firms. After her career in technology, Nadja found her passion in the Food and Beverage Industry where she held several positions.

Nadja met and married the love of her life, Dorian Frederick. They were married for 18 years, and together for 22 years. They have one son, Dorian II.

During the time of writing this obituary, we were reflecting on how many people shared stories of Nadja’s love and generosity of spirit. Nadja never looked at one’s station in life only their humanity. Nadja was a warm, nurturing, loving woman, whose inner and outer beauty was truly a gift from God, that was shared with many.

Nadja is preceded in death by her grandparents, Mary and Isaac James, and Alberta and Harry Sims; and aunt, Cynthia James. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: husband, Dorian; son, Dorian II; in-laws, Donald, Sr. and Sandra Frederick; stepmother, Cassie Sims; stepfather, Anthony Turner; step-brother, Shawn Devlin; step-sister, Angelique Turner; godmother, Wendy Edmead; and a host of other family and friends.
