Formerly of San Antonio, Tx. , beloved Aunt and Sister, teacher, soldier, healer, and leader, passed away on May 5th 2018 at the age of 74. After a long illness, she is at rest and peace.

Nancy was born on April 4, 1944 in Syracuse, NY, to McDuff Bell and Leila Bertha (Johnson) Bell. Nancy graduated from Winthrop College in 1966 and began her teaching career at Page County High School in Luray, Va. In 1978, Nancy felt the call to service and enlisted in the United States Army, where she served as a medic and trained others to save lives.

Her last posting in the Army was at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, and after being honorably discharged in 1981 she called San Antonio home until 2010. Nancy was a science teacher at Harlandale Middle School, where she ultimately rose to the position of Vice Principal.

Nancy leaves a legacy of hundreds of lives she touched as a teacher, coach, and leader of her students, her family, her friends, and her fellow educators. Nancy was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph (1945) and William (2016) Bell, and her sister, Mary Lou (Bell) Galloway (2015). Those wishing to commemorate Nancy’s life are encouraged to do so in the form of donations to the San Antonio Genealogical and Historical Society (tsaghs.org).
