Nancy Lou Smith, age 78, passed away January 15, 2019. She was the wife of Bernard Lee Smith, whom she was married to for 64 years. Born September 9, 1940 in Lebanon, she was a daughter of Loy and Ethel (Trumbo) Miller.

Nancy worked at Reese’s for 37 years, where she made many friendships that would last her entire lifetime. Nancy loved her family with all her heart and her grandchildren meant the world to her. A high energy person, always keeping busy after her retirement, she spent many hours quilting and embroidering, so that she could share her crafts with friends, family and good causes.

Nancy donated hundreds of quilts to charities that raffled off her quilts in fundraising events and her quilts can be found all over the world. On a regular basis, she sought out those in need, there wasn’t a donation bag around that she didn’t want to fill. Road tripping with her sister Peggy was a weekly event for her.

There will be a big void in many hearts without her. In addition to her husband, Nancy is survived by her son, Carl L. Smith; daughter, Bonnie L. Deininger and son-in-law, Gregory Deininger; grandchildren, Darren L. Smith, Adria L. Smith and Caitlyn P. Smith and daughters-in-law, Kerry Smith and Barb Smith. Also, siblings, Calvin Miller, Sam Miller, Peggy Greblunas, Dwight Miller, and Ralph Miller.

Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jeff L. Smith, whom she missed every single day and siblings, Harold, Loy, Jr., Earline “Belle”, Wayne, Ruth, and Glenn. A funeral service will be held 12:00 Noon, Monday, January 21, 2019 at Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, 131 Gravel Hill Road, Palmyra preceded by a viewing beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra followed by a time of fellowship at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, 131 Gravel Hill Road, Palmyra, PA 17078.
