Nancy Lou (Wertman) Barr, 79, of Too Steep Rd, Watsontown passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Gatehouse Hospice, Williamsport. A lifelong resident of Watsontown, she was born September 1, 1939 the daughter of the late Charles T. and Irene A. (Phillips) Wertman. She was married to Wally Barr until his death in 1998, and was the companion of Dean Raup for 18 years until his passing on December 11, 2017.

Nancy was a 1957 graduate of Watsontown High School. She loved to dance, play cards, go to bingo, and work jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She worked at Philco/Zenith factory in Watsontown for several years then spent the rest of her working years bartending.

When she retired, she worked at the American Legion in Montgomery. Surviving are her daughter: Bambi Balliet-Stover and her husband Allan, of Elimsport; two grandchildren: Jennifer Watts, of Middletown, NY, and Jeremy Watts, of Ellenville, NY; four great-grandchildren; one step-son: Steven Raup, of Millville; four step-daughters: Karen Bitler, of Montgomery, Sandra Folk, of Huntersville, Pam Bitler, of Muncy, and Becky Miller, of Cleveland; 16 step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and her faithful four-legged “son” Freddie and “adopted” son, Tony. In addition to her parents, husband and companion, she was preceded in death by her nine siblings, 2 step-granddaughters and her son, John Balliet Jr, who died in 2005.

Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions should be made to either the Gatehouse Hospice, 1100 Grampain Blvd, Williamsport PA 17701, or the Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, Pa 17701. Arrangements are entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 124 Main Street, Watsontown.
