Nancy Myhau Tu (Ho Thi My Hau) passed away at the age of 70 peacefully on May 7th, 2018, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD after a brief battle with a very rare and aggressive type of CNS lymphoma. Nancy was born on March 9th, 1948, in Da Nang City, Vietnam, the daughter of the late Ho Huu Mui and Chau Thi Tuat. In 1967, Nancy married her husband of now 52 years, Dr. Quang Ngoc Tu, M.D. Nancy was a restaurant owner, loving mother, wife and the foundation of the family.

Nancy thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking authentic Vietnamese food for her sons, grandchildren, and extended family. She made some of the best Vietnamese food including bun bo hue, pho, and her famous momma Tu’s egg rolls. Above all, she found happiness and joy in life through seeing her four sons and eleven grandchildren blessed with good health, full of happiness, and many life accomplishments.

Nancy was a loving and a courageous individual. After the end of the Vietnam war in 1975, she single-handedly raised her four boys with little to no help while her husband was held in captive for 3 years by the communist government. In 1980, she successfully arranged for her husband and son Michael to escape from communist Vietnam safely in search of a new life, freedom, and a brighter future.

Two years later, Nancy and the rest of her family united with her husband and Michael in America to start building a new life together. Nancy is survived by her husband Quang Ngoc Tu; her four sons, Michael, Victor, Tyler, and Tri; her two daughters-in-law, Kerri and Amy; seven granddaughters, Emily, Rebecca, Kiara, Samantha, Selena, Olivia, and Elizabeth; four grandsons, Darren, Ethan, Ryan, and Evan; her two brothers Phuc and Vinh; her sister Rose; her nephew, Phien, and other relatives and close friends. Nancy requested a private funeral.

The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last days; especially all the wonderful staff at Johns Hopkins. Donations may be made to the Lymphoma Research Foundations at www. lymphoma.org or 800-500-9976.
