Ocetnik Phillips, age 74, of Stratford, beloved wife of John Phillips, passed away on December 21, 2018 in Bridgeport Hospital. Nancy, a Lunch Para for the Trumbull School System, was born in Bridgeport on February 20, 1944 to the late Andrew and Margaret (Favoccia) Ocetnik and has been a life long area resident. She was a graduate of Bullard Havens Technical High School.

Nancy was affectionately known as “Bammy” by her grandchildren. She loved nothing more than being their #1 Fan and cheering them on at their various sporting events. Although her grandson plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Nancy remained a loyal Giants fan who relished every victory and lamented every loss.

She also loved the beach and spent many hours savoring the sun. Survivors in addition to her beloved husband of 26 years, include her devoted children, John M. Yakowicz III and his wife Lisa of Trumbull, Kim Matakevich and her husband David of Stratford, Andrea Valeri of Shelton, and David Yakowicz and his wife Cindy of Shelton, 8 cherished grandchildren, Ava and Lauren Yakowicz, Ashley and Tyler Matakevich, Robert and Andre Valeri, and Alyson and David Yakowicz, a brother, Andrew Ocetnik and his wife Ann of Milford, a sister, Barbara Stortini of Texas, and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 28th at 9 a.m. meeting directly at St. James Church 2070 Main St Stratford.

Interment will be private. Abiding with Nancy’s wishes, calling hours have been omitted. The Adzima Funeral Home-Stratford has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
