Beloved wife of 59 years of the late Karl Ellis Ware; devoted and adored mother of Karla Reese Ware (L. William “Chip” Erb); cherished daughter of the late William Harold and Helen Robinson Reese, died December 30, 2018.

Born in Dallas, Texas, she grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and Burlingame, California, eventually returning to her parents’ native Ohio. She was valedictorian and a 1947 graduate of Lorain High School where she was a talented cellist in the orchestra sang in the A Cappella Choir, worked on the newspaper, and was a member of The Alphas, The Echoes, and the Archery clubs. She graduated from her mother’s alma mater, Miami University in 1951 with a degree in Secondary Education where she was voted Freshman Strut Queen and Homecoming Queen.

She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and was elected to Alethenoi, Sigma Delta Pi, and Kappa Delta Pi, the English, Spanish, and Education honoraries. After taking graduate courses at Western Reserve, she married fellow Miami alumnus, Karl E. Ware in 1953 and taught 3rd grade at Beach School in Rocky River before having her daughter. A model mother, she taught Sunday School at Rocky River Presbyterian Church, was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, room mother at Kensington School, a P.T.A. member, canvassed for Rocky River school levies, and volunteered at the High School bookstore.

She was appointed to the Kenyan College Parents’ Committee by its’ President, Philip Jordan. Nancy was a member of Westwood Country Club for 58 years and enjoyed trips to well-known golf courses with a couples group. She shot a hole in one on The Key Biscayne Hotel and Villas course in the 1970s.

She enjoyed winters in Naples, Florida where she was a member of Royal Poinciana Golf Club for 29 years. She and Karl were long-time members of Cleveland Yachting Club and later kept a boat in the Vermillion Lagoons. She was proud to be a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution and was also a former member of the Lakewood Women’s Club Juniors, the Women’s Committee of the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Cotillion Society.

Nancy was a supporter of animal rights and dearly loved her pets Rex, Skippy, Pal, Marco, Tick, D.C., Taffy, and Darcy. No visitation. Private interment at Lakewood Park Cemetery.
