Obituary for Nancy M. Wilson Nancy Monnette Wright Wilson, age 95, died peacefully in Dallas, Texas on December 30, 2018. She is survived by her children Sandy Lowe (Bill) of Delaware, Ohio, Steve Wilson (Lenni) of Scottsdale, Arizona and TJ Wilson of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Jennifer McGowen (Shannon) of Delaware, Jeff Lowe (Fadyia) of Lexington, Kentucky, Cari Oberfield (Mike) of Columbus, Ohio, Casi Maynard (Ryan) of Phoenix, Arizona; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Burns Wilson, and granddaughter, Jami Gayle Wilson.

Born in 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio to Edith and George Wright, Nancy suffered the loss of her mother at the age of six months. As a single parent, George raised his daughter in Marion, Ohio with the help of several aunts and uncles. With an abundance of adult supervision at such an early age, it’s no surprise that Nancy adopted a lifelong philosophy of “Don’t tell me what to do”.

Nancy graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1945 with a liberal arts degree. As an active member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, she had the great fortune to meet future husband Tom at a college dance where she exclaimed, “He’s the one for me! ” They soon married, had three children and made Delaware, Ohio their home for many years.

Nancy managed “The Hook & Hanger”, the Wilson’s CJ college shop, while serving the community as a founding member of the Delaware Mother’s Club, an active board member of both the Delaware Children’s Home and the Sarah Moore Home and a valued volunteer with Mental Health at Jane M. Case Hospital. She and Tom, along with several other couples, were instrumental in bringing Grace Brethren Church to Delaware. How she found time to become a pretty good golfer remains unanswered.

Nancy had the good fortune to travel extensively throughout her life. She and Tom discovered the Cayman Islands in the 1960’s, long before it became a popular vacation destination. They made it their winter home where they enjoyed scuba diving, relaxing in the sun, and entertaining friends.

As she entered her nineties, Nancy finally swam with the dolphins. In later years, North Carolina became Tom and Nancy’s permanent residence. The good weather, challenging golf courses, and living amongst life-long friends were a winning combination for retirement years.

After the passing of Tom, she remained under the watchful eyes of daughter Sandy in Delaware and son TJ in Dallas. The family would like to thank Nancy’s devoted caregiver Toni Dunlap and Willow Brook at Delaware Run as well as devoted caretaker Christina De La Cruz and Presbyterian Village North in Dallas for keeping Nancy healthy, safe, and on the go-go-go! Calling hours at Robinson Funeral Home in Delaware will be on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

Nancy will be buried next to her husband of 59 years, in a private ceremony presided by Pastor David Pacheco at Oak Grove Cemetery.
