Obituary of Nancy Brown Who is that beautiful lady walking away into the fog? It is Nancy Louellyn (Buchanan) Brown. With immense sadness, her loved ones that have been left behind announce that Nancy died November 10, 2018, at the age of 81, in her beautiful home surrounded by family.
Nancy was born on April 16, 1937 in DeLand, Illinois to George and Margaret (White) Buchanan. On June 15, 1956 she married the love of her life, David Joel Brown of Savoy, Illinois in the DeLand, Illinois Methodist church. According to her husband she was the prettiest, classiest, and most desirable girl in either of their high school senior classes.
Their high school graduations where separated by 7 years…. Nancy in 1956 and David in 1948. Her keyword sentiment for their love was “forever”.
The essence of Nancy was love. She was an incredible wife, a dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and caring friend. She was a naturally talented artist who loved painting with various mediums and a self-taught pianist.
People knew they could call her any time and she would share knowledge accurately… on an array of subjects from her hours of reading and personal experience, thus affectionally earning the title of “a walking encyclopedia! ” She never ceased to amaze her family with ingenious and healthy meals. She was a very good cook whose endeavor was to make her husband’s food “tasty”.
She was quite the bicyclist, an avid walker in nature and just as functional while camping as she was in her home. Nancy’s children have fond memories of her jitterbugging with them barefoot in the kitchen. Many homes will continue to be graced with her doilies, afghans, and oil paintings.
Nancy breathed life into every plant she touched, from those indoors to outdoor gardens. She was an extraordinarily compassionate human being who always took time to listen to others. In 1960 Nancy was baptized in Tennessee as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and from that point forward she gained comfort from her heavenly Father Jehovah.
Besides nurturing and caring for her family, Nancy’s career could not have been a more fitting livelihood. Her interest in massage, health, fitness, herbology and the healing arts enhanced her being a phenomenal body worker. Despite her health challenges, she gave and gave and gave of her energies unselfishly to others.
David and Nancy had 10 beautiful children: Melanne (Fred) Roatch, Julia (John) Kosolcharoen, Natalia (Ren) Bredda, Nathaniel (Georgette) Brown, Camille (Arthur) Scears, Thadeus (Ruth) Brown, Aaron (Danielle) Brown, Danielle (Ken Spaulding) Brown, Dawn (Laconia) Williams and Joseph (Amanda) Brown, 17 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, with a 6th…a great granddaughter…to be born in the spring. Nancy had 6 brothers, 1 sister, their spouses and many nieces and nephews all of whom Nancy loved dearly. Nancy is survived by 2 brothers, Benne and Keith Buchanan.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, George and Margaret (White) Buchanan, her parents in-law Vernon and Ruth (Warwick) Brown, son Nathaniel Brown, siblings Paul Buchanan, Gene Buchanan, Danne Buchanan, Kenneth Buchanan and Nola Hunter. Her strengths continue to live in her children. They remember conversations with mom often ending with the words ‘love you more’.
At Nancy’s request a private remembrance has been held. She left us too soon and will be treasured forever in the minds and hearts of those who loved her. We miss her profoundly.
