Naomi A. Slabaugh, 82, residing in Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 9:55 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2018 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. She was born July 3, 1935 in South Bend, a daughter of the late Walter & Lida Penrod, and has remained a lifelong resident of this community. She is survived by her daughters Sue (Tim) Ayres, and Shari Hamrick, both of Mishawaka, and her sons, Gary (Cindy) Howey of Mishawaka, and Jeff (Brenda) Howey of Michigan.

She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Among survivors is her granddaughter, Karly Hamrick who was Naomi’s caregiver and her strength around the clock. Naomi was the owner of Slabaugh’s Curve Inn in Mishawaka.

She enjoyed Lebanese cooking, crocheting for family and friends, and was a garage sale enthusiast. She was quick witted and sharp tongued to keep everyone on their toes. She loved her family and loved going to the casino.

Many thanks to Dr. Al-fadhl for his years of exceptional and diligent care, along with his staff at Comfort One Hospice. Per Naomi’s wishes there will be no services. Expressions of sympathy on behalf of Naomi may be offered to Comfort One Hospice, 128 Murray Street, South Bend, IN 46637.
