In 1965 Natalie moved to New Hampshire and started working at Kingswood Regional High School as a Physical Education teacher and field hockey coach and a substitute teacher in Spanish and English. She often attributed her love of teaching to her high school Spanish teacher whom she said had faith in her and pushed her in ways nobody else did when all she wanted to do was skate by at the time. While working at Kingswood she taught night classes at the University of Maine as a language teacher where she was involved in a car accident that took the life of a coworker and caused irreparable damage to her right arm.

After leaving Kingswood Natalie became a reporter for the Carroll County Independent and the Granite State News, where she spent many years developing her love of photography and writing. Natalie spent the last 16 years working at Ocean State Job Lots in Ossipee, NH, a job she took with the utmost pride in working at.

During the Christmas season she could be seen working a different Santa hat for every day she worked. Natalie devoted her life to helping others, serving on the board of many different organizations and taking an avid interest in the Town’s and communities and their histories around her. Working hard on her own time to uncover its mysteries, going so far as to locate the unmarked grave of a young woman, Florence Small, who was murdered by her husband and ensuring that she finally got a headstone she deserved.

Natalie was a lover of lighthouses, black bears, Andrew Wyeth, the Olsen House and everything about the State of Maine. She also had a great love of the Native American community and spent many years following the Red Road. She was a kind, thoughtful and caring woman who strived to bring joy to every life she came in contact with.

Natalie will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Natalie is predeceased by her parents and a brother Howard “Hal” Peterson of Cushnet, MA and a nephew Mark Peterson. She leaves behind a former sister-in-law Susan Peterson of MA.
