Nathaniel Creighton Emens , August 07, 1927 — December 29, 2018

Nathaniel C. Emens, 91 of Middleboro, MA passed away December 29, 2018 after a short illness. He was the loving husband of the late Marian Catherine (Davis) Emens of 62 years. Born August 7, 1927 in Cambridge, MA he was the son of the late Frederic and Agnes (Linn) Emens.

He is survived by his daughters Ruth Schuler and her husband the late Robert, Nancy Chadwick and her husband Hartland and Susan Hughes and her late husband George; grandchildren: Benjamin Chadwick, Alycyn (Lucian Lovelle), and Margaret-Linn Schuler; his brother: Peter Emens and his wife Cindy of Cary, NC; a nephew Dr. Jonathan Emens of Seattle, WA; and nieces Jane Emens Motko of Shoreline WA and Margaret Grace of Portland, OR. Nat, as he was known, was a graduate of Belmont High class of 1945 and received his B.A. from the University of New Hampshire in 1950 and a Master of Education degree from State College at Framingham in 1966. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1947.

Nat retired in 1992 from the New Bedford Public Schools where he was a School Adjustment Counselor for 23 years. He previously taught for several years at West School in Stoughton. Nat was very active in the Lakeville United Church of Christ, the Old Colony Association, and the Mass.

Conference of the United Church of Christ. He was past president of the Lakeville-Middleboro Hospice and Lighthouse Hospice and active in the Lakeville Historical Society and the Plymouth County Genealogy Society. His interest included sports, traveling with his wife, and after retiring, Genealogy.

He wrote and published a book that may be found in the Middleboro Public Library entitled, “Emens – Emens Family History”. Visitation will take place on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 4-7 PM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford St., Lakeville, MA 02347 A Memorial Service will be held on January 5, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Lakeville United Church of Christ, 1 Precinct St. Lakeville, MA. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to the Lakeville United Church of Christ.
