OBITUARY Neil Everette Thursby July 1, 1926 – October 21, 2018 Neil Everette Thursby, 92, passed away on October 21, 2018, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Neil was born July 1, 1926, in Raytown, Missouri to Luther and Edna (Whaley) Thursby. He lived near Camdenton, Missouri and in the Kansas City area for most of his life.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents, wife Imogene (Coffman) Thursby, brother Melvin Thursby, sister Marion Rodman, son Steven Neil Thursby, daughter-in-law Nancy (Fisette) Thursby, and his grandson, Steven Neil Thursby II. Neil is survived by his sister Virginia Turner and her husband George, sister Dee Shirley, sister-in-law Shirley Thursby, daughter Beverly Weaver, son-in-law Darrell Weaver, grandson John Miller and his wife Carol Monahan, granddaughter Denise Garner and her husband Richard Garner, three great-grandchildren: Derrik Garner, Macy Garner and Nora Miller. Neil had been a member of Laborers’ Local 1290 since 1945 and had worked for the local union and for the Laborers’ International Union of North America for over 30 years.

He spent the last 5 years of his career leading the development and implementation of the Laborers’ AGC Hazardous Waste Training Program. A Visitation will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 10:00am until 11:00am.

Funeral Services will follow at 11:00am. Burial will take place in Mount Moriah Cemetery South. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in Neil’s name to: Salvation Army, P.O. Box 805181, Kansas City, Missouri 64180.
