Neil’s Obituary Neil Wayne Trammell Neil Wayne Trammell, age 93, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Indian Hills – A Stonebridge Community, Chillicothe, Missouri. Neil was born on June 11, 1925, in Sampsel, Missouri, the son of Claude Devaul Trammell and Maude Jane (Wagner) Trammell. He was the youngest of 6 children.

Neil attended school at Sampsel until the 8th grade, whenever the family moved to Breckenridge, where he finished and graduated high school in 1943. After high school, he entered into the United States Navy and shortly after was in the invasion of Okinawa. Neil became a medic during the height of World War II, which left him caring for all of the sick and wounded.

He left the Navy on February 1, 1946. That following July, he found out he had polio and after months of treatment, he beat it. Neil was united in marriage to Shirley Gayle Bassett on August 14, 1949.

He also became a rural mail carrier for Breckenridge Post Office in August of 1949, where he worked for almost 28 years. Neil was a member of the Breckenridge Assembly of God Church, where he attended for many years, with his favorite verse being John 3:16. Neil was also a member of The National Rural Carrier Associations.

He farmed a little and was a coach for the Breckenridge pee-wee, little league, and pony league for many years, as he loved Baseball. Neil had two children, Tony Neil Trammell born on January 12, 1951, and Kevin Joe Trammell born on March 17, 1955, both in Chillicothe. Neil had 3 grandchildren, Kati Johnson, Tyler Neil Trammell, and Kaitlyn Trammell.

He also has 4 great grandchildren, Landyn Dennis, Karsin Lent, Kinzley Clevenger, and Carter Trammell. He also has one niece, Joyce Earl and husband Tom of Chillicothe, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents; siblings; his son, Kevin; and his granddaughter, Kaitlyn.

Funeral services will be held at the Pitts Funeral Home, Breckenridge, Missouri, on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Pitts Funeral Home, Breckenridge, Missouri, on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Friends may call at the Pitts Funeral Home, Breckenridge, Missouri, on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Breckenridge, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
