OBITUARY Nellie Bird December 18, 1929 – January 31, 2019 Nellie E. Bird, 89, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully, Thursday morning, January 31, 2019 at Northwoods Care Center in Belvidere. She was born December 18, 1929 in Dickinson County, Iowa, the daughter of Glenn and Clara (Zorgdrager) Hinds. Nellie was married to the love of her life, Ronald Bird.

She was employed by National Lock for many years, and later in life, worked at Rockford Lutheran. Nellie enjoyed fishing, gardening, knitting and stitching. Nellie is loved and missed by her son, Robert “Bobby” Bird; Ronald’s children; grandson, Steve (Ada Rivas) Snider; great-grandson, Landon Snider, and a great-grandchild on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ronald; daughter, Diana Snider; son, Mark Bird and brother, Harold Hinds. A visitation will be held at 4:00-6:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2019.
