Obituary for Nellie Jean Buchanan (Powers) Nellie Jean (Powers) Buchanan (77) of Butler, KY passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at her home. Nellie was born in Berry, KY on March 17, 1941, daughter of the late Cephus and Bessie (Winkle) Powers. Nellie was a faithful follower of Christ.
She was a long standing member of the Butler Baptist Church where she served the Lord in many different positions. Nellie was know far and wide for her love of God and family. In addition to her parents, Nellie is preceded in death by her brother Charles Powers, daughter Deborah Kay Wittamore and grandson Gerald (Jerry) Lee Moore.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 37 years Danny Buchanan, daughters Viola Magee, Bessie (Tony) Lucci, Lorna (Chuck) Combs, Melody (Rick) Weldon, sons Charles (Venus) Moore, Kenneth (Carolyn) Moore, Ronnie (Sandy) Moore, Dennis (Tonya) Moore, Victor Buchanan, Donald (Beverly) Buchanan, sister in law Barbara Powers, 34 grandchildren, 74 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren. Along with many extended family and friends. Visitation will be held from 11-1 pm on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the Peoples Funeral Home- Butler, KY.
Funeral services will follow immediately at 1 pm also at the funeral home. Nellie’s final resting place will be in the Lenoxburg Cemetery- Bracken County, KY. Memorials, if desired, are suggested to the Butler Baptist Church, 107 Peoples Street, Butler, KY 41006.
