Nelson McKeever Bouchard, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, December 4th, 2018. Nelson was born at home in Shutesbury, MA, on October 22, 1983 the son of Patience Lowe of Colrain, and Paul Bouchard of Ashfield. Nelson, affectionately known as “ Uncle Nelkie,“ “The Awesome Possum” or “Mack” by his family, was a thoughtful man who made everyone laugh with his antics.

He enjoyed a simple life full of nature, hiking, family and fishing. Nelson was a proud dad to his daughter, Vega Marie, an engaged uncle and a devoted son (his father’s firewood piles attested to that). He could often be found playing one of his guitars or a makeshift drum.

He was a fan of music, especially music festivals and outdoor concerts where he was known to frequently dance barefoot. A lover of animals, Nelson convinced many friends and family members to adopt animals he had rescued. He especially loved birds of all kinds.

He loved a good laugh almost as much as he loved a long road trip. He would, at times, get restless and head to California for a few weeks just to reset his mind. Nelson was a of love for his family and friends.

Whether fishing with his nieces and nephews, searching for Chaga in the woods, crystal mining with his dad and Fran, or playing a fierce game of Chess or Monopoly he was always focused on the task at hand with joy and intensity. Nelson’s soul longed for a world with more compassion and kindness for people of all walks of life. He leaves behind his beloved family; his daughter Vega Johnson-Bouchard of Heath, his father, Paul Bouchard of Ashfield, his mother, Patience Lowe and her partner Ben Gervais of Colrain, his two sisters; Sara Lowe and her partner Steven Valli of Unity, NH and Rachel Bouchard and her partner Jordan Scanlon of Adams, MA, his paternal grandmother Phyllis Bouchard of Naples FL, and his beloved nieces, Hailie, Meriah, Magdalena, and Vaidah, and nephews Brian, Xavier, LJ and Carter, and many cousins he loved dearly.

A Celebration of Nelson’s Life will take place Saturday, December 15th from 1-4 at the Ashfield Congregational Church, Ashfield, MA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Recovery Learning Community at www.
