Obituary for Nevanna Oesterling Nevanna “Nan” Simmons was born February 5, 1936 in Pennsylvania, the eldest of five children to Nevan and Gertrude Simmons. After growing up in scenic Marysville Nan married Vance Oesterling in 1952, and quickly started a family in Marysville. Nan learned the truth in April of 1960 and introduced it to her father who served as a beloved elder until his death in 1989.

Together with her husband and father Nan was baptized in July of 1962. Nan and her family moved to California in August of 1964 where she finished raising her children and built strong friendships with the local brothers and sisters. Nan faithfully served her creator for over 56 years, always attempting to put her relationship with him first in her life.

She made being at the meetings a priority whether she felt poorly or not. Her comments at the meetings were always a joy to listen to knowing that she was going to speak frankly and from the heart. Nan also had a special place in her heart for the young ones in the congregation making them feel comfortable and valued.

She had many fine qualities that she passed on to her children and grandchildren, like her quick wit and humor. She fell asleep peacefully on January 7, 2019. Nan will be missed by all.

Nan is survived by her sons Kerry and Kris Oesterling, and her daughter Robin Sandecki. She is preceded in death by her eldest son Kelly Oesterling. She had five grandchildren, Keri Lynn Wutzke, Michael Oesterling, Kristopher Oesterling, Keith Oesterling, and Mark Sandecki II.

She had seven great grandchildren.
