Nicholas Andrew Collet, 89, passed away from his life, home to the lord, and reunited with the love of his life, Ann, on March 1, 2019. He left peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was born on April 8, 1929 to Catherine and Andrew Collet in Carey, Ohio.
Nick married his sweetheart, Ann Unser, on June 9, 1956 at St. Mary Catholic Church; Tiffin officiated by his uncle Father Martin Collet. They were blessed with 62 years of marriage and four loving daughters. Nick joined the Air Force September 1948 and served “3 years, 10 months and 22 days”.
This started his dedication to fire fighting. He was a member of Clinton Township Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Nick is survived by his daughters; Diane Baylor, Theresa Hensley, Sharon (Tom) Olsen, and Susan (Bob) Wright.
Seven very much loved grandchildren. Megan (Kris) Flynn, Charles, Emily, and Adam Hensley, Michael (Brit), Lindsay, and Benjamin Olsen, will cherish his memory. He has two great-grandchildren, Oliver Flynn and Tamsin Olsen with another precious one on the way.
Nick is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Hank Collet, George Collet, Lucy (Mickey) Rausch, and Cathy Brandt. Cathy became his special ray of sunshine and we wish to thank her and Hank for all he love and devotion they showed our dad. Nick was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, his brothers, Joe and Norman Collet, brother-in-law Charles Brandt, and sisters-in-law; Janis and Imogene Collet.
After graduating Ohio State University in 1957, he worked as a dairy inspector. Nick spent the focus of his career in the banking industry. He worked in several Tiffin banks and retired from Republic Bank as the CEO.
Nick served his church as a lector for many years and was a member of Knight of Columbus. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking, and planting flowers for Ann. Together, they enjoyed antiquing, adding to his reamer collection, and bird watching.
He loved catching the memories of camping and family gatherings in many, many photos. Nick was a great storyteller sharing memories of his life and family. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and gave him peace.
We acknowledge and thank Heartland Hospice. Our deep appreciation to Marcy’s Caring Hearts and Hands for their compassionate and devoted loving care. His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at St Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin with Rev.
Anthony Coci. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with military honors by the Seneca County United Veteran’s Council.
