OBITUARY Nina Elizabeth Southard White March 31, 1943 – December 29, 2018 Nina Elizabeth Southard White passed away peacefully at home on December 29 surrounded by her family after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born in 1943 in Birmingham to Howard and Enid Southard, now deceased. She was third of five children and is survived by her brother, Carson Southard and sisters, Brenda Jinks, Lynn Hudson and Charlotte Brannum.

She leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Jerry; her daughters Tracy Hornkohl (Dan) and Beth Henderson (Scott) and the lights of her life, her grandchildren: Brandon Hornkohl, Hannah Henderson, and Taylor Hornkohl. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and their families who were a beloved and integral part of her life. She worked for Liberty National and two prominent local physicians. But her primary focus was always nurturing the health and happiness of her husband and daughters. She was a Brownie Mom and tireless cheerleader for their endless sports and social activities.

Her all-time favorite job was as a full-time Grammy who devoted herself to loving and caring for her three grandchildren. She was a selfless friend and sister who laughed easily and never had bad things to say about others. She lived her Christian faith.

She will be missed. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 2 at 10AM at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel followed by a celebration of her life at 11AM. Graveside services at Elmwood Cemetery will follow that.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to the charity of your choice.
