Obituary for Nora Davis Nora Lee Moore Davis, 64 of Hammond, IN was called home to be with the Lord on May 24, 2018 at Hospice of the Calumet Area in Munster, IN. Nora was born on November 18, 1953 in Centerville, AL to the late William and Hazel (nee Lightsey) Moore. Her family moved to Hammond in 1956 where she attended Hammond public schools and is a 1972 Hammond High graduate.

She worked at Collins Variety and Record Store, Hammond Civic Center at various city swimming pools, and Maywood Elementary School. Nora was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and loved Sunday School.

She was also a life member of the Hammond Branch NAACP and devoted member of Tabitha Calyx Women’s Club. She is survived by the love of her life and husband for almost 46 years in marriage, Donald Davis, son Thomas (Evyonne) Morris, both of Hammond and devoted daughter Angela R. Davis of Monona, WI. She also leaves to cherish her memory, loving grandson Chauncey Morris, five additional grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She leaves behind six siblings: William (Debra) Lightsey of Gary, IN, Margaret Jean Veal, Larry (Crystal) Moore, Sr., and Faith Camille Warren all of Hammond. , Willie Marie Garrett of Cary, NC, and Patricia (Phines, Sr.) Vaughn of Kalamazoo, MI. Two sisters-in-law: Betty Banks of Columbus, IN and Valerie (Raymond) Buckner of Somerset, NJ, Life-long Best friend and maid of honor, Mary Aaron of Gary, Favorite Cousin, Bobby Lockett, Sr. of Hammond, and special nephews David Wayne Banks of Columbus, IN and Roger Steven Warren, Jr. of Hammond, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
