Norbert L. Vereneau, 89, of Biddeford, died Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Southern Maine Health care in Biddeford. He was born May 24, 1929 in Biddeford, a son of Josephat and Maria (Grenier) Vereneau and was educated locally. Mr. Vereneau served with the US Army from 1951 to 1953 and upon his return, married Blanche Chretien on August 29, 1953 at St. Joseph’s Church.

A hard working family man, he had been employed as a machinist and foreman at Fafner Bearings in New Britain, CT. In addition he had worked as a building Superintendent and operated his own plowing business, retiring at the age of 75. He enjoyed tinkering, doing yard work and the company of his beloved German Shepherd, “Sky”.

He was preceded in death by Blanche, his wife of 61 years on March 19, 2014 and by his three brothers, Gerard, Jean Paul and Armand Vereneau. Norbert is survived by: 2 sons: Raymond Vereneau and wife Darlene of New Britain, CT Steven Vereneau of Bristol, CT 3 daughters: Linda Vereneau of New Britain, CT Rita Swanson (daughter and care giver) of Biddeford Janice Labbe and husband Gary of Bristol, CT 1 brother in law: Leopold Chretien of Biddeford who resided with him 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews Visiting Hours will be 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford.
