OBITUARY Norman Ashton Oswald Jr. December 11, 1928 – December 25, 2018 Norman Ashton Oswald Jr. passed away peacefully on Christmas morning, December 25, 2018. He was 90 years old. Beloved husband of Audrey Koeing Oswald for over 71 years.

Loving father of Barbara Groetsch (Michael) and Peggy Oswald Dufresne (James). Grandfather of Joshua Groetsch (Stacey), Jeremey Groetsch, Gene Groetsch, and Justin Groetsch (Jenna). Great-grandfather of Landon Groetsch, Emma Groetsch, Brendan Groetsch, and Owen Groetsch.

Brother of William “Billy” Oswald (Cheryl), Richard “Dickie” Oswald (Carol), Kenneth “Ray” Oswald (Virgie), and the late Robert Oswald (Beaulah). Norman was a native of New Orleans and has been a resident of Metairie for over 58 years. Before retirement, Norman retired from Texaco after 40 years.

Fiercely independent, he still drove a car and lived independently with Audrey at the home in Metairie where they raised their children. He and his wife were also a member of a walking group that frequented Lakeside Shopping Center. Although Norman and Audrey were recently hospitalized in distant rooms on different floors, their separate hearts shared a single door.

Audrey was released first and went to live with her daughter and slept where the Christmas tree would have been. She is prettier than the tree. She patiently waited for the return of Norman.

On Sunday, the day before Christmas Eve, he was released and also went to live with his daughter. When he arrived, Norman and Audrey kissed and embraced. They had missed each other so.

Although he passed away on Christmas day, they were given an opportunity to say goodbye. He is at peace. She is at peace.

After 90 years of life, he was able to join his family and loved ones in heaven on the same day that Jesus was born. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at LEITZ-EAGAN Metairie, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, on Saturday morning, December 29, 2018 at 10:00. Visitation will begin at 8:30.

Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park, New Orleans. An online guestbook is available at www. leitzeaganfuneralhome.com.
