Norman G. Rozendaal was born August 31, 1946, to Jacob and Bertha (Rowenhorst) Rozendaal in rural Otley, Iowa. He passed away January 3, 2019, at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Norman attended Otley and Monroe elementary schools and graduated from Monroe High School in 1964.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1968. On June 18, 1968, he was united in marriage to Coretha Blauw, at the Second Christian Reformed Church in Pella. To this union they were blessed with three sons: Timothy, Calvin and Andrew.

Norman began a tiling business in 1976 when the first simple tiling maching was purchased with the intent of drying out the home farm. While operating the machine and observing the great improvement that the drained soil made in the crop production, neighbors asked if the machine could be used on their farms too. From this humble beginning over 40 years ago, the business has blossomed with three generations of the Rozendaal family.

He has served in many organizations over the years, some of those are: Board president of the Otley Farmers Co-op, Jasper County Habitat for Humanity, board member and president of the Garden Chapel Funeral Home Co-op, Faith and Freedom State board, and as an officer in the Iowa Land Improvement Association. Norman was a member of Otley Reformed Church for 57 years, where he was active in the choir, consistory and evangelism committee. He was currently a member of the Covenant Reformed Church where he was serving on the fellowship committee.

He also attended Gateway Church in Monroe. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Coretha and their family: Timothy and Jane Rozendaal, Otley Justin and Miranda Rozendaal, Otley Kendra Rozendaal, Otley Calvin and Tanya Rozendaal, Monroe Zachary and Jennafer Rozendaal, Monroe Cameron Rozendaal, Monroe Andrew and Erin Rozendaal, Hamilton, Michigan Zoe, Grayson Rozendaal He is also survived by his two sisters: Bonnie and Doug Brown of Ankeny, and Phyllis and Bob Lauritsen of Georgetown, Texas, his brother-in-law David and Lisa Blauw of Knoxville, and many nieces and nephews. Norman was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Bertha Rozendaal, his grandson Brandon Rozendaal, his parents-in-law John and Fern Blauw, and his sister-in-law Marti Blauw.
