Odessa’s Obituary Odessa Askew (affectionately known as “Dessa, Miss Odessa”) entered into eternal rest on Wednesday May 15, 2019 in Waverly, VA. She was born on December 5, 1932 in North Carolina to Tom and Dessie Dean Askew. She was a staple in the Jericho Community for many years.

Odessa had a big smile to go with her big laugh. If she gave you one of her famous nicknames that was her way of showing how much she cared about you. She will be truly missed.

Odessa was the youngest of six children. She leaves behind to cherish her memory is her son, Marvin Askew of Suffolk; 2 grandchildren, Cedric Boyette(Sharon) of Portsmouth, VA and Ramon Boyette of Suffolk, VA; six great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; one step-daughter, Brenda Atkins of Suffolk, VA and a host of nieces and nephews throughout NC, VA, MD, NJ and CT. Odessa was preceded in death by her sisters Virginia Bowman, Elsie Mae Askew, Lizzie Parker; and Brothers Booker T. and William Askew.
