Ohannes’ Obituary Ohannes Antranig Armoudian was born October 17, 1943 in Haoush Halla, Lebanon to Antranik and Mayrene Armoudian, he was the youngest of three children. He died May 5, 2019 at the age of 75 years, 6 months, and 18 days. In 1948 his family moved to Beirut where he attended Sourp Neshan schools through fourth grade.
In 1954 the family moved to Hadeth where he completed his education. He followed in his father’s footsteps as a tailor-apprentice while working in clothing stores learning the trade. He eventually attended the Ladeze Darroux Fashion Design School of Paris, France, graduating in 1967.
His other passion was dancing professionally with the Phoenicia Romeo Lahoud dance company in Beirut. In 1967 he moved to Manhattan, New York where his passion catapulted him into originating the accomplished Sevan Dance Troupe in New Jersey and then the Tekeyan Folk Dance Group in Boston which traveled the country sharing historic Armenian dance. His third troupe, the Antranig Dance Ensemble, still exists in New York City today.
His group was honored to have performed at Carnegie Hall, in Washington D.C. and Manhattan’s Town Hall. While in Manhattan he also studied lithography and the print trade for magazine production. While conducting the dance troupe, he met the love of his life, Rosemary Krikorian, who was one of his dancers.
Together they traveled the country with the dance troupe pursuing their passion. The dance group is a great testimony today to his talents. Rosemary and Ohan married August 4, 1979 two years after receiving his naturalization as a U.S. citizen.
They lived in Tenafly, New Jersey and began their family together. Ohan’s interests moved toward youth activities like soccer as the family grew to three sons Daniel, Robert and Adam. Together the sons have brought Ohan and Rosemary seven grandsons.
Ohan became president of the Tenafly Junior Soccer League. In 1987 the family moved to Oklahoma to join Ohan’s brother Garabed and wife, Agho Armoudian in a business venture, The Treasure Chest jewelry and gift store. He also continued his passion of helping establish soccer programs in the schools in Weatherford.
In 2000 he joined in establishing the MotoPhoto franchise in Weatherford serving as general manager, bringing his talents as a master digital and website designer. He helped bring one of the first websites to Oklahoma newspapers with the Weatherford Daily News, providing the first online news content almost twenty years ago in the infancy of web development. After retiring from MotoPhoto he continued teaching web and digital design through Western Technology Center where he helped families to restore old photos.
Ohan is survived by his wife, Rosemary; sons Adam Armoudian and wife Kara and grandson Weston, Daniel and Katie Zeytoonian and grandsons Lance, Peter and Charlie, and Robert Zorian and wife Tara and grandsons Luke, Christian and Noah. He is also survived by sister-in-law Agho Armoudian and niece Maria; nephew Anto Armoudian and wife Marion and their children Sophia and Nicholas; brother-in-law Charlie Krikorian and sisters-in-law Diane Krikorian and Melanie Krikorian. He is also survived by other nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by both parents, a sister Loucine, brother Garabed, in-laws Mary and Cy Krikorian and brother-in-law Roger Krikorian. A memorial service will also follow in Watertown, MA at St. James Armenian Church. Memorials may be made to the Shriners or St. Jude research hospitals.
